Dr. Sophie Witter is a health economist with nearly 30 years’ experience in health systems research and development. She joined Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, where she is a Professor of International Health Financing and Systems. Her work has focused on health financing strategies, reducing financial barriers to accessing care and provider incentives, including performance-based finance. She has mainly worked in low and middle-income countries including in Africa, Asia, and transitional economies.
In the Results4TB project, Sophie serves a Co-Investigator, responsible for the overall coherence of the study components, including the clinical trial. She brings her experience of theory-based evaluations using mixed methods and multi-disciplinary teams, along with her expertise in communicating research findings and ensuring research uptake and dissemination.
